2d: Jacques-Louis David | 3d: AM RadioI built this recreation of David's Death of Marat as an excercise. What started as a recreation of the fabric draped over the tub became a challenge to recreate the entire mood of the original work. David sought not only to depict an event, but to define Marat's character. Ina Centaur saw the work and created a pose for it, and the recreation became something new. The recreation was no longer a builder's foolings with prims, but a statement about the history of art, art's future in digital form, a statement about the Avatar, how we define ourselves, and how all of us define our character.
